Peasant top and a New FO

Hello!!

I just finished sewing a peasant top for my eight years old daughter during the weekend. This is how it looks like...
I follow the free pattern tutorial by  Lier at Ikat Bag.  It is a very simple pattern and easy to follow even for a beginner.

With that finished, I start to cut and sew my February New FO Quilt Block. This quilt is for my sister since the stash fabric were given by her.   I used nine patch design ...

and this is how I intend to arrange each block when everything finished.

Scrap Attack String QAL

Hi everyone!!

I started the February month with sewing the blocks for the Scrap Attack Strings QAL which I participated at Sew Lux.  As at yesterday I've finished sewing all the 8 blocks which meant to be for January month.  Basically we need to complete 8 blocks a month to have a  finish quilt size of 44" x 55"(80 blocks).  And these are all the scraps that I've put aside for this Quilt Along.  I will start sewing another 8 blocks for February month next week.

The paper piecing technique use in sewing this block is really easy to understand. For those interested to join you may click HERE to get the details.  You're not far behind since we're just started.

January New FO projects

Hi everyone!!

These are two new projects that I've started in January 2012...

This first project was inspired from Ms. Nanette at Freda's Hive from her Scraptacular Picnic Quilt tutorial. I choose to make it  into 12 pieces of 13" blocks  from scraps fabric.   Added with 2" sashing using white fabric... and this is how it looks like once I've done... this is my first quilt top that I've sewn for 2012.

My second project is a quilt for my boy size 60" x 72"

Both are ready to be quilted with the backing.

Quilted Hexagon Bag

Hello everyone!

I have been crazy lately playing with hexagons...in fact I've already prepare a long list of projects that I would like to create using hexagons.

Today I am sharing another quilted bag created using hexagons. Since I am not too satisfied with the result (especially the crooked seam)I am not giving this bag away...( initially I plan to sew this as a  gift for my mum).  I will sew another one for my mum with some modification towards the original pattern.

I used 28 pieces of 2" hexagons. The design of this bag was inspired from this leather hand bag.

It comes with two internal pockets - one for the cell phone and another with the size of 5" x 6" to keep small items. I used velcro as the bag closure. The is how the inside of the bag looks like.

I am sharing this at Sew Lux Fabric & Gifts for December Stitch and Share Challenge.  Click over to their blog and see other projects shared by other talented crafters/sewers. You may also join the fun since the date line will be until 31st of December.

Wish everyone Happy New Year and Happy Sewing!!

Fabric basket

Hi everyone!

I just finished sewing this fabric basket.... a gift for my husband.  The height of this basket is 5.5cm.   I used the following pattern which I took from the Japanese sewing book ...by just following the diagram since I can't read Japanese.

It gives me an idea to sew one for my hubby since he loves to put his coins on the mug rug that I've made  him.

And here goes the coins into its new home...

The fabric basket with full of coins at the corner of the computer table.

I am sharing this at the Sew and Share Challenge and Stash project of the Month.
Wishing everyone Happy Holidays

and  Happy New Year!!
