Cute Flower Pattern

Hello there and Happy New Year to all!!

I'm back with a simple flower pattern to start the new year.  This flower pattern is so quick and easy.  It looks great for baby hat, headband or even for small purses. You can crochet one up in no time!

This pattern is suitable for beginners as it only use two  basic crochet stiches, a single crochet and double crochet stiches.

Here is what you will need:

Yarns - Red for petals

            Yellow for center

            Green for leaves

Steel Hook - Size 3 or any size that suitable with the yarn that you use.

Scissors and yarn needle

Notes:

If you prefer your flower bigger in size you can use a chunky weight yarn with a bigger size hook.

Main pattern stiches and abbreviations: ch- chain; sc - single crochet; dc - double crochet; sl st - slip stitch

CENTER(Yellow yarn)

R1 - Ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. Cut off yarn.

PETALS (Red yarn)

R2 - Attach red yarn to any sc, *ch2, 3dc, ch2, sl st in the same sc. sl st to the next sc**  Repeat from * to ** 5 times. You will have 5 petals. Cut off.

CAL 2019 - Finishes

Hi there!

I am sharing today, my first CAL 2019 block - Striped Flower Garden

The size turn out to be smaller than the original size the CAL group plan.  The finished block should be in  size of 12'" and my version is only 6".   This might due to the yarn that I use ...

and this is my finish for Block 3 - Persephone Square ....  I choose pattern that easy to follow randomly rather than following the sequence of the blocks. I found some of the instruction is quite difficult to understand...

However I am happy with the outcome...

Hand Pieced QAL - Week 1

I've been following Elm Street Quilt blog quite sometime now.  When she come out with this QAL, I thought of giving a try. It takes me about a few weeks to think about joining or not, until I saw Kristin of Simple Handmade Everyday video on how to do the 1st block.  She made it looks easy and I think I have time for this....and that's how I decided to join the group.

Today,I  started by choosing my fabric from my collection.  These Chocolate Sundae Batiks fat quarter was my choice. It will be the main color and I use white as the background.

I  follow all the steps from cutting, up to joining all the pieces from the video tutorial by Kristin...

This is the result of my first hand pieced Block 1.....

and this is how the back of the block looks like... I just use my fingers to press all the seams.

This is my first experienced in hand sew a quilt block.  I find it quite challenging.  Hope I can follow through until the end.  I'm linking up my first block at Elm Street Quilt.
