February Finishes #04: Embroidery 101 Quilt

Hi Everyone!
At last I've accomplished my goal  to finish up this quilt... the  Embroidery  101. I started this quilt in 2011  as part of a Quilt Along over at Clover and Violet. I finished the quilt top with all  the embroidery on schedule.  I choose to hand quilt  it with straight line following  the shape of the boxes created by the individual blocks on the front. I finish  up with machine binding  following Mellisa's of Happy Quilting tutorial. This is how the result looks like.

Quilt Description:
Size: 58″ x 58″
Binding: Machine bind
Quilting: Hand Quilted by me with straight lines along the sashing and around the centre of each block.
Pattern: Part of the Embroidery101: Stitch & Quilt Along hosted by Clover and Violet in 2011

I feel so pleased and happy with my accomplishment.  This is my first UFO quilt finish for 2013.

A Lovely Year of Finishes: January 2013

Hello…

Wishing Everyone A Happy New Year!!

I am happy for having found Melissa of   Sew Bittersweet Design and Shanna of  Fiber of All Sorts who hosted this party.

My Button

Well, I jumped in with a goal to finish all my UFOs.  I have listed all the projects for this party to finish up in 2013.  Hope I manage to follow my list as planned and achieve my goal. So without further ado, this is the  project that I chose for my first month finish... the Embroidery 101 that was from the quilt along that I joined in 2011.  This is the first quilt along that I've joined  and the first quilt top that I've sewn.

The quilt along was  hosted by Jennie and Clara of Clover & Violet.  I finished the quilt top in October 2011 and have been keeping the quilt top for more than a year now.  Do you have stack of UFOs that need finishing too! Why not join in the party.  I linked over at Fiber of All Sorts!

Happy Quilting!!

Embroidery 101 Quilt top

I choose to sew the quilt top from the  Quilt Along that I participated at Clover & Violet for the Friday Night Sew-In.  As a beginner and my first experience to sew a quilt, I find it very difficult , especially when there are few of my blocks are not in the same size.

Earlier  I choose to follow the design recommended by Janelle by adding a 2 " sashing with a small square....I did that, but it did not turn out right.  From the picture below you can see clearly that the sashing is not in line with the block...not satisfied with the result, I ripped open and stiched the sashing without the small square.

And the result ... my first quilt top!!

And below is how it looks on my queen size bed...

Happy Sewing!!!

Embroidery 101 : Final Block

I just finished my final block for Embroidery 101:Stitch & Quilt Along  today.

I would say that this is one of the many pattern that I like most.

Even though the Embroidery 101 Quilt Along has already reach to the final block, basically it is not ended until you  put all the nine blocks that have been embroidered together!  I think I might have problem with this since I have never sew a quilt before... anyway many thanks goes to Jennie and Janelle for include the tips on how to do it(with or without sashing).  Hope I manage ... till my next post on the assembling of the quilt top I wish everyone...

... Happy Stitching!!

Embroidery 101:Block 8

I just finished stitching the Block eight for the Embroidery 101 Quilt Along that I participate at Clover & Violet.   Basically there are nine blocks in total that we need to stitch for a 54" square quilt. Being said so...  it means  just one more block to go before the quilt top finish.

The most challenging part while stitching this Block 8 was when I stitched the big petals. I used satin stitch with back stitch as the outline... just like Jennie's. I started with the outline followed with the satin stitch... I found it very difficult in filling up the space... in future I will remember to start with the satin stitch first and then the back stitch outline. Anyway it is a good experience ... and I'm happy with the result.

Happy Stiching!!

Embroidery 101:Block 7

I just completed stitching the embroidery for Block 7 for the Stitch & Quilt Along at Clover & Violet.

The cloud was suppose to used the split stitch but while I'm doing it I forgot about it and end up everything was used the back stitch... anyway

the rest of the pattern were according to the stitch as given by Jennie.

Happy Stitching!!

Embroidery 101: Block 6

It has been a long holidays... away from home
and  from my computer.

And today after the long leave and being sick for the last 4 days,
I'm here to share with you my Block 6 for the
Embroidery 101: Quilt along....

And following is the picture of all the six completed blocks for the
Embroidery 101: Quilt Along with Clover & Violet.

Sorry for the bad quality of the picture...

Anyway hope everyone enjoy viewing... and to those participate

Happy Stitching!!

Embroidery 101 : Block 5

It has been a busy month .... Since we are preparing for the festival
that was just around the corner, I left with no time to
commit with stitching the Block 5 for the
Embroidery 101: Quilt Along on time.

Here is my Block 5 which was just completed today.

Happy Stitching!! and ...
to all Muslim Wish you 'Happy Eid Ul-Fitr'

Embroidery 101 : Block 4

This week what I did  for sewing was stiching the
Block 4 of  Embroidery 101 Quilt Along
at Clover &Violet.

The most challenging part when stitching this pattern was when
working with the long and short stich.
That is why, I choose to stitch the bird and the roof  pattern
after I have completed the others...

Anyway with the little diagram provided by Jennie
on how to worked the stitches I managed to
complete it.

The little diagram was really helpful!!

Just to share with everyone following are all the four completed
blocks for the Embroidery 101 : Stitch and Quilt Along.

I also share this post at Sew Darn Crafty
and Clover & Violet.

Happy Stitching!!

Embroidery 101: Block 3

Another week with the Embroidery 101 : Stitch and Quilt Along with Clover & Violet...
Pattern printed and with a bag full of thread ...
I am ready to start stiching the third pattern for the Block 3.

This is the Block that I choose to stitch the third pattern...

I choose to start stiching the big red flower first
since it is the biggest ... but upon completion
I found that I was not too happy with my stitching .
The red big flower stitching was not as neat as I hope it to be...

So nothing else can I do except to rip it all out and

re-stitch the big red flower all over again ...

and the result ... I am more than happy..

I just love how it turn out ...

Satisfied and really enjoy stitching it...

 Happy Stiching to all !!!
