Embroidery 101 Quilt top

I choose to sew the quilt top from the  Quilt Along that I participated at Clover & Violet for the Friday Night Sew-In.  As a beginner and my first experience to sew a quilt, I find it very difficult , especially when there are few of my blocks are not in the same size.

Earlier  I choose to follow the design recommended by Janelle by adding a 2 " sashing with a small square....I did that, but it did not turn out right.  From the picture below you can see clearly that the sashing is not in line with the block...not satisfied with the result, I ripped open and stiched the sashing without the small square.

And the result ... my first quilt top!!

And below is how it looks on my queen size bed...

WiP

These are some of my Work in Progress that need to finish before end of this October month.

First is the Embroidery 101: Stitch & Quilt Along ...to sew the quilt top...

Secondly is the Sunburst Granny Square Afghan crochet Along... for my queen size bed.  I need 120 squares and currently I've only crocheted  82 squares ... so I need another 38 pieces to go.

Third is the Yo Yos Along which I need another 850 pieces ... (which I'm not sure whether I can make it )

Fourth is the crochet Baby Cardigan which I've put aside for sometime now since I've run out of yarn... I've bought the yarn yesterday... but yet to find the time for it since I already have three other projects to finish.

I am sharing this at WiP Wednesday

Happy Crocheting and Sewing!!

Embroidery 101 : Final Block

I just finished my final block for Embroidery 101:Stitch & Quilt Along  today.

I would say that this is one of the many pattern that I like most.

Even though the Embroidery 101 Quilt Along has already reach to the final block, basically it is not ended until you  put all the nine blocks that have been embroidered together!  I think I might have problem with this since I have never sew a quilt before... anyway many thanks goes to Jennie and Janelle for include the tips on how to do it(with or without sashing).  Hope I manage ... till my next post on the assembling of the quilt top I wish everyone...

... Happy Stitching!!

Embroidery 101:Block 8

I just finished stitching the Block eight for the Embroidery 101 Quilt Along that I participate at Clover & Violet.   Basically there are nine blocks in total that we need to stitch for a 54" square quilt. Being said so...  it means  just one more block to go before the quilt top finish.

The most challenging part while stitching this Block 8 was when I stitched the big petals. I used satin stitch with back stitch as the outline... just like Jennie's. I started with the outline followed with the satin stitch... I found it very difficult in filling up the space... in future I will remember to start with the satin stitch first and then the back stitch outline. Anyway it is a good experience ... and I'm happy with the result.

Happy Stiching!!

Hexagon Bag

Photobucket
Hi everyone!!
I should have posted about this Purse Week : A Contest sooner but I spent almost all of my free time working on my entry.  I've decided to come up with my own pattern this round and it was really a good experience for me !  Remember the post that I wrote about these hexagons...

I have been playing around with the idea of creating a bag pattern from these haxegons and this was some sort of a trial version.  There are still a lot more work to be done to the pattern but I'm happy with what I've ended up with....

 I call it Haxegon Bag
It comes with a key holder at the side and a pocket.
If you happen to know about Purse Week only today, make sure to go over to A Lemon Squeezy Home for lots of bag inspired tutorials. To see what other talented people did...click HERE.

Crochet Along:Time Out Cowl

I finished crocheting the Time Out Cowl! Yea! I’m done. I really like how it turned out! I used bulky yarn …

The first Crochet Along that I've completed...  I really enjoy the fun and learn a lot from Rachel at Maybe Matilda. I choose to make my cowl into a twist style… and this is how it looks like!! Since I don't have model to put it on,I just use the hanger... If you wish to see  finished cowls by other talented people you may click HERE.

Crochet Along:WiP

Today I would like to share my progress on the Crochet Along that I participated at Oxford Family Blog! Item that we have to work together is a full size Sunburst Granny Square Afghan. This is the pictures of my progress for week 3

and  this is for week 4 which I crocheted up to round 5. I only completed 11 pieces of squares so far.

Honestly as at today,I only managed to crochet 30 pieces out of 88 squares that we require to have for the afghan.  I plan when I start crocheting the other 58  pieces I will complete it up to round 6 since week 5 is just around the corner.

I would also like to share my progress on the Crochet Along with Rachel at Maybe Matilda. The challenge is to crochet a Time Out Cowl!!  The completed cowl size should be 30 inches and at the moment my cowl size is 20 inches.

I need to crochet another 10 inches to complete. I plan to do it by this weekend  and will share the completed cowl in my next post!!

I'm sharing this at Ambassador Crochet

Till then Happy Crocheting!!!

Mug Rugs

This is how my first Mug Rug looks like after binding.  I made this for my own used. My mug rug at its new home ...  my office and with its new friend ... the mug.

Since sewing a mug rug don't take much of my time, I did another mug rug for my hubby.  The color of my choice are range of orange and brown.  This time I add embroidery pattern at the center.

The completed mug rug....

I am sharing this at Mug Rug Madness Flickr Group and Stitch in Color!! and also shared this at Clover & Violet Stash Project...

Happy Sewing and Stitching!!
