A Finish : Rose Garden Quilt top

This is part of the 2013 FAL and UFOs To-Do-List

I finished piecing the Rose Garden blocks on Monday but only manage to post about it today. This is how my finished Rose Garden quilt top looks like.
I used 15 blocks size 12.5” for this quilt. The finished quilt size is about 49” x 72”.

I used 1.5” white fabric for the sashing. This finish is my first quilt top that completed in 2013 from my  UFOs list. I started this quilt sometime last year using scrap fabrics .

It feels so good-to have it finished!

January Finished #01 : Pouches

Hello  everyone!!

I finished sewing these pouches for my daughters....both fabric were cut together with other pouches which I finished in December 2012.    These two are leftover from that project.  My 9 years old daughter used it as a pencil case  for her afternoon class....the finished size is 4" x 6.5"

and this is another one for my  6 years old daughter. She used it as her pencil case too.   The finished size of the pouch is 5" x 6.5".  It comes with a pocket at  the outside

and this is how the inside looks like. She request it big so that her calculator can fit in...

and this is another set ...a request by her friend ...and she wants exactly like hers... using the smiley fabric.

To differentiate between the two, I made a zipper puller from the smiley face for her friend...

and used different fabric for the lining.

These are all my first finished for January 2013...  I'm linking to January Finishes linky party over at

Value Added Quilt Along

Hello everyone!!

One of my new project that currently in progress is this Value Added Quilt Along. It was co-hosted by Rachel(Stitched In Color) ,Leila (Where the Orchids Grow), Amy (Badskirt),and  Jolene (Blue Elephant Stitches).
Value Added

I choose the Jacob's Ladder pattern by Jolene of  Blue Elephant Stitches

Following are the beauties that I choose from my stash.. for this project....combination of Good Fortune by Kate Spain,Thread Wind by Ashley and Vintage Modern  by Bonnie and Camille.  All these are FQ bundles that I've bought at Sew Lux Fabrics.

I am still in the process of cutting all the tiny pieces.... personally I would say this pattern was the first that I've ever follow which need a lot of cutting. Below are the work in progress which I arranged using mosaic.  The last photo was the first block that I've finished... I love it so much.  It  turn out so satisfying...

and last night I finished another three blocks and my first diamond shape block created.  I still have a long way to go...but surely I will reach there.

Happy Sewing everyone!!

Weekend Handbag

Hi Everyone!!

I've been working on this handbag for a few weeks now and today I am ready to share the finished handbag.

It was made from three FQ Vintage sheet which I bought from Ironsea Etsy shop. The owner of the shop, Ms. Jeni  was kind enough to put together combination of 10FQ Vintage fabric. I  never use Vintage sheet in making bags before and this is my first.

This is how I did the center of the bag using the scraps from the same fabric.

Scraps fabric that I used for the center.

This is how the front bag looks like after the center was done.

It includes with internal pocket for keeping small items.

The finished size of the main body of the bag is 12"height  x 13" length.  It is a shoulder length handbag using medium weight fusible and the pattern is my own. Like many other bags that designed by me it comes with a curvey bottom. This is the first bag designed by me that comes with a flap.   Here my daughter modelling it to give you an idea of the bag size.

I am very happy with the result.  I submitting this handbag as my entry to Purse Palooza contest hosted by Sara at Sew Sweetness.  Hop over to Purse Palooza flickr group and see what other talented sewers are doing.

Happy Creating and Sewing!!
