Tutorial : Granny Square Bag

Hi Everyone!!

Remember the granny square bag crocheted by my daughter? Well... today I am sharing the tutorial on how she did the squares until how to joined it all. This post did not include on how I did the handle and the lining...maybe some other day I 'll share  how I did mine..

Granny Square pattern

Materials:
Yarns(4 colors of your choice)
Hook

Abbreviation:
st - stitch
sl st - slip stitch
ch - chain
dc - double crochet

NOTE - TO CHANGE COLOR
1.  With the working yarn, make the last stitch until the end and pull up a loop of a new yarn.

 2. Drop the working yarn and let it fall to the back of your work, yarn over with the new yarn and continue with the round.

Instruction:
Start with a magic ring.

Rd. 1 - Ch 3, 15 dc into center of the magic ring, join to third ch of beginning ch with a sl st

CHANGE COLOR(pink) at round 2 follow the step as at NOTE .

Rd. 2 -Ch 3, 3dc into the same st, *skip a st,4 dc in next st*;repeat from * to *. Join to third chain of beginning ch with a sl st(8 shells)

CHANGE COLOR(yellow) at round 3follow the step as at NOTE .

Rd. 3 - Ch 3, 3 dc into the same space.  *skip next 3 st, 4 dc in next st, 4 dc into the next shell space*,  repeat * to *. Join to third chain of beginning ch with a sl st(12 shells)

CHANGE COLOR(bright yellow) at round 4follow the step as at NOTE .

Rd. 4 - Ch 3, 3 dc into the same st, 4 dc into next space between shells,  *skip next 3 st, 4 dc in next st, 4 dc in next st, skip next 3 st, 4dc into the next two space between shell, repeat * to *.

Join to third chain of beginning ch with a sl st.(16 shells)

Now you have the complete granny square.
Make 22 pieces of different combination of colors of your choice.
To finish off, ties all the loose end of the first yarn with the new yarn being joined at each round.  Leave a long enough tail to weave it in.
Arrange all the 22 pieces of granny square as picture.  Join all squares following the arrow.
And this is how your bag will looks like once all the squares have joined together.

This is how the stitch looks like at the back

Another finished bag with handle but yet to be lined. This one is using same color tone.

If you follow my tutorial in making your bag, show and tell at  Hook 'n Needle flickr group
I would love to see your bag ...thank you.

 Happy Crocheting!!

Garden Steps : Block #11

Hello !!

I finished stitching the Garden Steps Block #11 yesterday...and here is the result.  For this block it's a butterfly!!

I used  a lot of chain, satin, and back stitch with French knot stitch for stitching the butterfly.  Among the 11 blocks that I've stitched, this is the only block that I used three colors of thread.

Having this Block done, it means the Garden Steps Quilt Along is coming towards the end with only one more block left ... Block #12.

Till next time ... Happy Stitching to everyone!!

the Louisa Bag

Hello Everyone!!

Today I am  sharing my finished sewing project during the weekend ... the Louisa bag, latest pattern by Clover and Violet.  I feel so happy when being asked by Jennie to test the pattern for Clover and Violet.  Here is the finished  bag.

The inside of the bag, with two pockets.

The outside of the bag comes with a side pocket at both side with ties.

I used Velcro for the bag closure in replace of a magnetic snap since I don't have one in my stock.

As a whole I really have fun sewing it, I would say that Clover and Violet patterns are easy to follow.

As like other patterns that I've sewn before, the instruction is easy to understand. Other patterns that I have sewn before are the Emma Clutch and the Anne handbag.

Happy Sewing!!

Hello Everyone!!

Today I am sharing my progress with my latest crochet along that I've participated.  This crochet along  is jointly hosted by Corey  Cindy and Deborah Basically I've finished sewing all the 80 pieces of the 5" squares. I used Ruby line with a mixture of California Girl fabric due to shortage of the Ruby stash.

Here are the squares ...one box of Ruby and another of California Girl.

Squares are all sewn and pressed. Next step is to blanket stitch each and every pieces before I can start crocheting.

I  use cotton thread for crocheting the edge. These are my finished squares so far.   You may also visit flickr group to see what others are doing...

Second handbag that I've sewn was this Weekend handbag.
