February Finishes #04: Embroidery 101 Quilt

Hi Everyone!
At last I've accomplished my goal  to finish up this quilt... the  Embroidery  101. I started this quilt in 2011  as part of a Quilt Along over at Clover and Violet. I finished the quilt top with all  the embroidery on schedule.  I choose to hand quilt  it with straight line following  the shape of the boxes created by the individual blocks on the front. I finish  up with machine binding  following Mellisa's of Happy Quilting tutorial. This is how the result looks like.

Quilt Description:
Size: 58″ x 58″
Binding: Machine bind
Quilting: Hand Quilted by me with straight lines along the sashing and around the centre of each block.
Pattern: Part of the Embroidery101: Stitch & Quilt Along hosted by Clover and Violet in 2011

I feel so pleased and happy with my accomplishment.  This is my first UFO quilt finish for 2013.

February Finishes #03 : ScrappyTriple-Zip pouch

Hi everyone!

If you has been following me long enough, you would know that I love making pouches.  When I found Debbie's of A Quilter's Table,is having  a sew along party namely Triple-Zip Along, I am so excited and join in the fun.  This is how my first Triple-Zip pouch looks like.  It was made 100% from scrap fabrics and  due to that I name it Scrappy Triple-Zip Pouch.

This is how the back looks like.  I used QAYG technique.

and this is the inside of the pouch. I used dark polka dot fabric for the lining.

I love the colors and definitely this piece I will keep for myself.

February finishes #02 : Crochet Coin Purse

This post is part of the Stash Buster Challenge 2013 : #01

At last... I finished my first project for the Stash Buster Challenge.  This challenge is hosted by Linda over at Linda's Crafty Corner. These are the yarns that I am thinking of using at first but I end up with only two yarns being used...

and this is how my first project looks like....crocheted coin purse.  The finished size of this coin purse is 4" x 5.5".   I am using this challenge not only to make use my stash but also to try new stitches and create new pattern.

This coin purse was crocheted  using star stitch following the tutorial that I found at Fruitful Fusion.
After everything done, I found that I have wrongly sew the lining...(the zipper should be hidden between the lining and the crochet piece) Anyway it just too many thing to re-do ...so I just leave it as it is. First lesson to learn from my first project.

These are the yarns that I will be using for my next project which yet to be decided ... definitely it must be something that I've never try before.

Happy Crocheting!!

Project Quilting Challenge

Hi friends!!

I am having Kim Lapacek, a creative mother to three beautiful girls, own an apple orchard(Lapacek's Orchard, where she share free recipes that you will enjoy) and owner of the Persimon Dreams blog.  Lets meet her and see what she have to share with us ...

Hello everyone! This is Kim from Persimon Dreams and I’m so happy to be here sharing some exciting Project QUILTING news with you. We are currently in the midst of Season 4. The first two challenges inspired over 100 quilts to be created – so amazing! The third challenge went up on Sunday, February 3rd and I can’t wait to see what comes from it (still time for you to join in!)

I personally love Project QUILTING because it has been extremely inspirational to me in my quilting journey. I know I only have a week for the projects but it’s a great opportunity to give ideas in my mind a try – see what happens, try new techniques. If it works…maybe I’ll do a bigger project that takes more time. Project QUILTING has me creating pieces I never imagined before, it brought me out of the only making ‘what I think will sell’ and in turn, and the Project QUILTING community has been such an inspiration and support.

I have heard from many that they love watching along with Project QUILTING and the projects created from the challenges but they just can’t fit making a quilt in just one week. That’s what my exciting news is all about today – a new *Bonus* Project QUILTING Challenge. I’ve teamed up with a fabulous online fabric store – The Fat Quarter Shop to bring you all the ‘Fat Quarter Shop Bundle Challenge – Tradition Times Three’

Diane outlines what is required for this particular challenge. You must go to the Fat Quarter Shop to buy the fabric bundle

in order to complete the challenge BUT the twist is – you have until May 30th, 2013 to submit your challenge! At that point, one of my girls will randomly draw a winner of $75 to use at the Fat Quarter Shop.

I also wanted to share with you a few ways you can save on your fabric bundle. First – head over to my blog and enter in the giveaway

OR if you want to save 20% off your entire purchase of fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop check out this blog post to find the special code – good through February 10th.

Thanks for having me and I hope to see you all with a quilt in one or more Project QUILTING Challenges. Have a great rest of your week!

~Kim Lapacek

So friends...
Are your ready to join in the challenges? Don't forget the giveaway too! It is still on and open to all ...
